Review: Roba Dolce Gelato and Sorbetto

If you are tired of the boring plain bowl of ice cream, I have a treat to introduce to you that will tickle your taste buds! I was recently asked to do a review on Roba Dolce Gelato and Sorbetto. They’ve used real family recipes that had been used for generations to create authentic Italian gelato and Sorbetto. They have a variety of flavors from Dark Chocolate Chunk Gelato to Blood Orange Sorbetto. I would have to say that the Della Coconut has to be my favorite. The flavors and textures are smooth and to have the real coconut bits is a pleasant treat! Click here to check out a little bit about the company.

Gelato Flavors:
  • Raspberry Almond Fudge – red raspberries, dark chocolate chunks, crunchy almonds
  • Della Coconut – bits of shredded coconut
  • Dark Chocolate Chunk – flavorful cocoa from the Ivory Coast of Africa
  • Wild Berry – blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries
  • Summer Pistachio – crunchy pistachios
And their Sorbetto -
  • Di Limone
  • Mango Dream
  • Raspberry Berry
  • Blood Orange

Roba Dolce, which means “sweet stuff,” uses family recipes that have been passed down for generations to create real Italian taste.  Following the old world artisanal approach of an authentic Florentine gelato master and using imported Italian equipment, this gourmet dessert offers a bold, intense flavor and is the perfect anecdote for all of your holiday recipes.
Available in a variety of flavors at select locations nationwide.

With the flavors Roba Dolce have to offer our divine; it gives you many options to choose from and to work with in recipes. At a dinner party I had over the weekend, I served peanut butter cookies with the Della Coconut in the middle as a sandwich. My family can't get enough of it. They have gone through most of it already. I had to swat them away from the coconut just so I can have enough to make the cookies. I do want to mention that they don't sell it in my city, so if they don’t sale it in a store near you Click here to purchase and have it shipped. I will to say that Roba Dolce Gelato has been one of the best reviews I have done so far! This treat was loved by all! If you are having a holiday get together this Halloween Beloware a couple of recipes I think you will enjoy!

Packaging - 5/5: Absolutely loved the packaging. The ice cream was shipped in a white reusable Styrofoam
cooler and packed on Dry ice. I was worried that the ice cream would be a little melted, but to my surprise it arrived to me rock hard and no signs of melting! The individual package on the Gelato and the Sorbetto is easy to open, and seals back tight to prevent any freezer burn.

Quality - 5/5: The quality of the Gelato is amazing. It is very rich and creamy. The flavors are melts in your mouth good. There is nothing confusing to draw you away from the actual flavor (no gimmicks). If it says coconut, you get real coconut and nothing less.
Price- 4/5: This product is a fair price, if its not in your area you are able to purchase it online at icecreamsource.com. The only draw back to that is the shipping is a little bit pricey.
Overall - 4/5: I think overall this is a real good product. It’s a nice treat that I don’t mind feeding to my whole family.

Recommend - YES! I’d definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a delicious refreshing treat!

Gelato Vampire Bats

  • 4 large Scoops of dark chocolate chunk Roba Dolce gelato
  • Assorted candies for decoration (Ex: candy corn, licorice whips, jellybeans, fruit rolls)

  1. For the bat wings, place cookies on a cutting board. Cut cookies into halves. Using a teaspoon, cut a slightly scalloped edge on the straight side of each cookie; set wings aside.
  2. For the body of the bat, place a scoop of the gelato on each of four serving plates. Using a knife make a cut about 1/2-inch deep on each side of the scoops of gelato.
  3. To assemble the gelato bats, insert the end of cookie wing into cuts on sides of Roba Dolce gelato scoops. Place so they look like wings. Decorate ice cream with candies to create the bat's face. Use licorice pieces for the ears, jelly beans for the eyes, candy corn for the fangs, or use your own imagination.
  4. Serve immediately or freeze for up to two hours before serving. Serves 4.

My Makeup Attempt

Last weekend I had the best opportunity ever. I was in my cousins wedding! I was honored that she even asked me to be a bridesmaid. We have been through so much and have shared so much together. We have been so close over the past years that you would think we were sisters. Not only do I cherish the friendship and bond we have I also look up to her as a mom and a women. She has been through so much over the years that it would make the strongest person weak. She has shown me that there is always a light at the end of your tunnel. God will never put anything on you that you can not handle. Back to her wedding, I will have to say it was beyond beautiful. It was a wedding that made you cry, smile, and laugh all at once. For the wedding I had the chance to test my makeup applying skills. I did my own makeup (instead of going to the MAC counter like I planned). I used Orglamix:Vetiver, Orglamix midnight, Orglamix Solar, on my eyes. I was going for a subtle smokey look and I think I accomplished what I set out for. Please take a look and leave a comment on what you think!

Photo of the Day

I haven’t posted any recent pictures I have taken. I’ve been so busy with school work, housework, and the kids that I haven’t had a chance. Then there was my cousins wedding that I was in so it took a bunch of my time as well. So this weekend my oldest daughter had a football game. My youngest is not old enough to cheer, so allowed her to be the mascot for the team. She is very good at it and knows all the cheers, it’s just she is so shy she wont stand up there with the girls. Well, this past weekend is the first weekend that she wanted to take part with them. Even though she didn’t cheer, she did get down there with them to pose a bit for some pictures. After the pictures she did stand there for the rest of the game with them. Next year I hope she will have the courage to fully participate with the girls and join right in! This is just one of the pictures that I love so much! She really gets into the posing with the pom-poms. I wish I could have been on the track with them, if I was the pictures would have came out better. I had to make do with what I had from up in the bleachers. Enjoy!

Born Free Review

I was offered to do a review for BornFree and I was sent a Twist N’Pop Straw Cup. Born Free’s Twist n’Pop Straw Cups are a really great option for older toddlers who are weaning off a sippy cup. This cup offers an easy to use, BPA-free straw cup for your toddler. The top of the cup is easy to tern to expose the silicone straw. From my experience these cups are not 100% spill proof, if it is held upside down it does leak out slowly. I like this cup for the simple fact it is cute, easy to grip for my daughter, and a step above being just a sippy cup.  The cup is offered in 4 colors, Blue, Green, Pink and Yellow and retails for a very reasonable $7.99. You can find the cup as well as the full line of Born Free Products on the B

Product Info: BornFree® BPA-Free plastic, 14oz. (400ml) Twist N'Pop Straw Drinking Cup features a hygienic pop-up straw mechanism for comfortable mess free drinking. 14oz body interchangeable with BornFree® bottles and cups. Suitable for 12+ months.

I was also offered to review the Twin Pack Clear Pacifier.

I don’t have a child young enough for pacifiers, but my cousin does. I let her test the products on her little girl. My cousins little girl has been picky from day one about what kind of nipples she would take. She has had a hard time finding a pacifier she would take. With the clear pacifier form Born Free she took to with ease. The only draw back she had from this product was that when she sterilized it, water collected in the nipple. After letting it air dry, the water eventually evaporated.
With that said she is pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for the right pacifier for their child.

Product info: The BornFree® Clear Pacifier is a orthodontic silicone pacifier with an angled nipple that encourages natural development of the pallate. Made from materials that are 100% free of BPA, Phthalates and PVC, the BornFree® pacifier features a transparent perforated shield to prevent moisture and protect your baby's sensitive skin. With Handle.
